Ren Hang

We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Ren Hang. Our thoughts are with his friends and family. It is an irretrievable loss for all who knew him, as it is for the art world which loses one of its brightest and uncompromising talents.

OstLicht has been honoured to house his first European retrospective in 2015, which is still remembered as one of the key exhibitions in the young history of our Gallery. To work with Ren Hang has been a constant source of inspiration. He will be deeply missed.

We thank you for your understanding that until further notice prints will not be available for purchase.

Stefanie Moshammer: Land of Black Milk

Stefanie Moshammer is one of the most exciting new artists who emerged from the Austrian photography scene in the last few years. It comes as no surprise that magazines are queuing to work with her, among them Vice, Sueddeutsche and Zeit magazine, and that she has just been picked for the prestigious FOAM Talent 2016 edition and shortlisted for Unseen Dummy Award. OstLicht Gallery showcases her personal portraits of two mythical places: Las Vegas, the desert oasis of neon light and blackjack tables, and Rio de Janeiro, the metropolis perhaps best known for the Cristo Redentor and Ipanema.

The series "Land of Black Milk" and "Vegas and She" are exclusively offered by OstLicht Gallery. The photographs are pigment prints available as limited edition in two formats: 105 × 70 cm (Edition 10) and 60 × 40 cm (Edition 12), with high-quality wooden frame, signed & numbered on the back.

OstLicht presents: Alfons Walde at Leica Gallery Vienna

For decades the photographs by painter Alfons Walde (1891–1958) were hidden in crates in the artist’s estate. In December 2014 they were shown for the first time at WestLicht Museum. For this year's winter season OstLicht presents  a selection from this spectacular discovery at Leica Gallery Vienna.

Limited Editions available exclusively through OstLicht: the elaborate restoration of the early colour slides and the negatives made it possible to produce prints. Fine Art Prints in colour from the original slides and black & white gelatin silver prints from the original negatives are offered in a limited edition of 5 including a certificate of authenticity.
